Diamond-II Booster Power Converters Awarded

The Diamond Light Source, situated on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, has successfully awarded a contract to Energy Technology S.R.L. (OCEM), based in Valsamoggia, Italy, for the supply of Booster and Quadrupole Power Converters. This contract, valued at €398,740, is critical for the ongoing upgrades to the Diamond-II facility which aims to enhance the capability for scientific research.

The upgrade will enable the facility to host a major transition in the provision of instruments and improvements to various systems, ultimately benefiting researchers from both academia and industry. In total, four tenders were received, and Energy Technology S.R.L. stood out due to their technical proposal and quality assurances.

The awarded project involves the development of power converters essential for the functioning of Barr and Quadrupole magnets, which are vital for the operation and performance enhancements within the Diamond light source. The facility is renowned for allowing investigators to study materials at atomic and molecular levels, which is increasingly pertinent in scientific advancement.
