Matrix Programme: Technology Services Awarded
The Matrix Programme, managed by the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, has successfully awarded contracts for technology services aimed at modernizing government back-office systems. The initiative, which serves multiple departments—including the Cabinet Office and Department of Health and Social Care—intends to provide a cohesive solution for both cloud and non-cloud users.
Following a competitive procurement process, two contracts were awarded on September 6, 2024. Cognizant Worldwide Limited, based in London, secured a contract worth £80,787,706, while Workday Limited, located in Dublin, was awarded £63,542,998. These contracts come as part of an overarching strategy to streamline transactions and enhance efficiency across various governmental departments.
The combined value of these contracts is significant, amounting to a total of £144,330,703. This investment reflects the government’s commitment to employing modern technology solutions to improve public sector services. The diligence in contractor selection through a competitive procedure ensures that only the best capable suppliers are chosen to enhance the delivery of critical services.
With an initial agreement period of 10 years for the SaaS solution and 5 years for systems integration, the Matrix Programme is set to transform operational capabilities within the UK government framework.
