New Accommodation Contract Awarded
The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham has officially awarded a contract for the provision of supported accommodation at The Vineries, designed to assist vulnerable young people aged 16 to 19 years. With a total value of £1,316,471.11, this contract aims to provide low to medium support for homeless youth who require assistance in living independently.
The selected contractor for this project is The Cyrenians, trading as Changing Lives, located in Gateshead. The organization will offer tailored services focusing on essential life skills, including health maintenance, budgeting, and finding educational or employment opportunities. With this initiative, the council aims to enhance the quality of life and independence of these young individuals by providing a supportive environment.
Moreover, the service will be delivered from a 31-bed facility known as The Vineries, situated in Dagenham. The structure will enable the contractor to cater to up to 25 young people at any given time, ensuring that they receive the necessary support and guidance during their transitional period. Ongoing assessment of individual needs will be central to the service provisions offered.
This initiative demonstrates the council's commitment to addressing homelessness among youth and emphasizes the importance of social support systems in building a brighter future for these vulnerable members of society.
