Renfrewshire Council Awards Electrical Contract
Renfrewshire Council has recently concluded the awarding of a significant contract for technical inspection and testing services involving electrical equipment across its public buildings. The contract, which amounts to a total of £500,000, is aimed at ensuring the safety and compliance of the electrical installations through regular inspections and testing. This initiative reflects the Council's commitment to maintaining high standards of electrical safety in its facilities.
The awarded contractor, Norwood Electrical (UK) Ltd, headquartered in Loughborough, will be responsible for executing a planned program of testing which is estimated to require around 110,000 to 115,000 individual tests annually. This rigorous testing regime encompasses approximately 180 properties within the geographical area governed by the Council. The services will be carried out in accordance with the IET Code of Practice to safeguard the community and comply with regulatory standards.
This procurement exercise attracted a competitive bidding process, with four tenders received, all from small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The decision to award the contract was made based on the lowest price criterion, along with assessments of the bidders' methodologies and community benefits proposed. The expected annual value of the contractor’s services is pegged at between £90,000 and £100,000, reflecting the ongoing demand for such safety assurance services.
