Watford Borough Council has successfully awarded a framework agreement worth £2.5 million aimed at supporting the refugee resettlement programme across ten district and borough councils in Hertfordshire. The initiative is designed to provide essential services for beneficiaries of any resettlement scheme, ensuring comprehensive support for those in need. The awarded contractors, Migrant Help and British Refugee, are set to play a pivotal role in this humanitarian effort.

This framework will be available for use by the following authorities: Broxbourne Borough Council, Dacorum Borough Council, East Herts District Council, Hertsmere Borough Council, North Hertfordshire District Council, St Albans City and District Council, Stevenage Borough Council, Three Rivers District Council, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, and Hertfordshire County Council. The focus is on providing social and community services, with an emphasis on fostering integration and support within local communities.

The competitive process received three tenders, reflecting the growing interest in providing vital social services. The contract was awarded on September 1, 2024, highlighting the commitment of Watford Borough Council to not only address local needs but also to partake in vital humanitarian responsibilities on a broader scale.
